Imagine talking about the latest elections with someone three thousand miles away without receiving a large phone bill; or sending a letter to a friend or relative and having it arrive one second later. How would it feel to know that any source of information is at your fingertips at the press of a button? This has been possible only through internet.

Millions of people worldwide are using the Internet to share information, make new associations and communicate. Individuals and businesses, from students to journalists, to consultants, programmers and corporate giants are all harnessing the power of the Internet. For many businesses the Internet has became essential to there operations. It has become this way because of the ability to send and receive data such as: messages, notes, letters, documents, pictures, video, sound and just about any form of communication, as effortlessly as making a phone call.

Many people use the Internet in genealogy research, or track down family or friends on a people search. It can also be a great advantage when one is planning to travel; maps are easily accessed, and unlimited research can be done on a destination. If one is into games then there are demos for most computer games, or you could even play chess with someone overseas.

The internet impacts so much of our daily lives that it has become indispensable to so many people and businesses. An office worker away from his desk, perhaps the other side of the world can have complete access to all of their files and data, including e-mail and other applications, by having a remote desktop session. Gone are the days when people had to wait weeks or even months to receive postal mail! With the internet, an email can be sent and reach its destination instantaneously! E-mails have made the world a smaller place, allowing people separated by great distances to correspond.

Instant Messaging, Chat Rooms allow people to send messages instantaneously, much like a phone conversation. Web pages are like virtual homes on the internet. They allow people to download files, submit files and comments, and do all your shopping online. Some Web pages have become money making vehicles. The internet spawned what we now call e-commerce. This involves purchasing over the internet. Internet has also become one of the most effective and simple ways to use technology in the classroom.

The world is just a clock way…
